How these numbers are computed

Each setup on Pingwish splits its gear into essentials and optional extras. The starting cost is the sum of the essentials only — the shortest honest shopping list that lets a beginner actually begin. Nice-to-have upgrades, specialty tools and ongoing supplies are deliberately not counted.

Prices come from real, currently sold products — the same ones listed on each setup page — not from estimates. When we re-check a setup, its number here updates with it; the date column shows when that last happened.

You are welcome to cite these figures. Every row has its own anchor, so you can link straight to one hobby — for example #the-row-you-mean — and the linked setup page shows the full checklist behind the number.
