How Wishlists Are Stored and Identified

Random Token Generation: Each wishlist is stored and identified exclusively by randomly generated, cryptographically secure tokens. These tokens are assigned at the time of wishlist creation and serve as the sole means of accessing and editing your wishlist.

No User-Based Identification: Wishlists are NOT associated with:

• IP addresses or network identifiers
• Geographic location or geolocation data
• Browser fingerprints or device identifiers
• Email addresses or personal identifiers
• User accounts or login credentials
• Session data or authentication tokens
• Cookies or tracking identifiers
• Any other metadata that could identify users under GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy regulations

Complete Anonymity: There is no technical possibility to restore, recover, or identify a wishlist based on IP address, geographic location, device information, or any other user-related metadata. Access is purely token-based.

Browser Storage and Owner Link Responsibility

Local Storage: Wishlist tokens are stored in your browser's local storage to enable convenient access through the "My Wishlists" page. This storage is local to your device and is automatically cleared if you delete browsing data for pingwish.com in your browser settings.

Critical: Safeguard Your Owner Link: Keeping your owner link (the URL containing the admin token) is the ONLY way to prove ownership and maintain editing access to your wishlist. We strongly recommend:

• Saving the owner link in a secure password manager
• Bookmarking the owner link in your browser
• Emailing the owner link to yourself for backup
• NOT sharing the owner link with anyone unless you want them to have full editing access

No Recovery Options - Important Warnings

CRITICAL NOTICE: Due to our privacy-first, token-based architecture, we cannot recover wishlists under any circumstances:

Lost Owner Link: If you lose your owner link (admin token), there is NO possibility to recover editing access to your wishlist. We cannot restore access based on your identity, IP address, email, or any other information. The wishlist will remain accessible to anyone who has the guest link, but you will permanently lose editing capabilities.

Deleted Wishlist: If a wishlist is deleted (either by you or through automatic deletion), there is NO possibility to recover it. Deletion is immediate and permanent. All wishlist data is irreversibly removed from our systems.

Automatic Deletion After Inactivity: If a wishlist has not been accessed (viewed or modified) for 12 months (1 year), it will be automatically and permanently deleted without any recovery option. This automated deletion helps us maintain data minimization principles and comply with privacy regulations. We do not send notifications before automatic deletion because we have no contact information associated with wishlists.

Token-Based Access Control

Anyone With the Link Has Access: Wishlist access is purely token-based, not user-based. This means:

• Owner Link (Admin Token): Grants full editing rights, including the ability to modify items, change settings, and delete the wishlist
• Guest Link (View Token): Grants read-only access to view wishlist items
• No Identity Verification: We do not verify user identity when accessing wishlists. Anyone possessing a valid token link can access the associated wishlist.

Cannot Revoke Access to Shared Links: If someone gains access to your owner link (whether you shared it intentionally or it was compromised), there is NO technical possibility to revoke or restrict their access. The only way to prevent further access is to:

1. Delete the compromised wishlist entirely
2. Create a new wishlist with new tokens
3. Do NOT share the new owner link with untrusted parties

Treat Owner Links Like Passwords: Your owner link provides the same level of access as a password. Anyone who obtains your owner link has full control over your wishlist. Never share owner links publicly or with untrusted individuals.

Privacy and Link Sharing

We Never Share Your Links: Pingwish never shares, publishes, or discloses links to user-created wishlists. Your wishlist links are never:

• Shared with third parties
• Published on public listings or directories
• Disclosed to other users
• Used for marketing or promotional purposes
• Indexed by search engines (we use robots.txt and meta tags to prevent indexing)

You Control All Sharing: You have complete control over who can access your wishlist. Links are only accessible to individuals you explicitly choose to share them with. We recommend sharing guest links for viewing and keeping owner links strictly confidential.

Data Minimization and Privacy-By-Design

Why Token-Based Access? Our token-based system is designed to maximize your privacy:

• No personal data collection required
• No user accounts or authentication systems
• No tracking across devices or sessions
• No possibility of unauthorized account access (no accounts exist)
• Complete anonymity - wishlists cannot be linked to individuals
• GDPR-compliant by design - minimal data collection

Trade-off: The privacy benefits of token-based access come with the responsibility of safeguarding your owner links. Unlike traditional account-based systems where passwords can be reset via email, token-based access cannot be recovered if lost. This trade-off prioritizes your privacy over convenience.

User-Generated Content

You are solely responsible for any content you enter in your wishlists, including product names, descriptions, personal notes, and comments. You agree not to include:

• Sensitive personal information (social security numbers, financial information, etc.)
• Illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• Content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights
• Misleading or fraudulent information

Third-Party Content and Intellectual Property

Product Information: Pingwish facilitates linking to products from external websites. All product images, descriptions, trademarks, and other content displayed from third-party sources remain the property of their respective owners.

No Copyright Infringement: We do not claim ownership of any third-party product information, images, or descriptions. We display this content for informational purposes only to help users identify and link to products. All intellectual property rights remain with the original owners.

Copyright Compliance: If you believe any content on our site infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at support@pingwish.com with details of the alleged infringement.

AI-Generated Suggestions Disclaimer

No Warranty on AI Suggestions: Pingwish may provide AI-generated gift suggestions and recommendations. These suggestions are provided "as is" for informational and entertainment purposes only. We make no warranties about the accuracy, suitability, or appropriateness of any AI-generated content.

Use at Your Own Discretion: You acknowledge that AI suggestions may not be suitable for your specific needs, budget, or circumstances. Always use your own judgment when considering any recommendations.

No Liability for AI Content: We are not responsible for any consequences arising from your reliance on AI-generated suggestions or recommendations.

Gift Finder — Data Processing and User Responsibilities

How the Gift Finder Processes Your Input: When you use the Gift Finder feature, the text you enter in the search field is transmitted to third-party services for processing:

• OpenAI API: Your search input is sent to OpenAI's artificial intelligence service to extract structured search criteria (such as product type, price range, recipient, and occasion) from your free-text description.
• Product Search APIs (Amazon, eBay, and other partners): The extracted search criteria are then used as input for product search APIs of our retail partners to return relevant product results. Your original free-text query is not forwarded verbatim to retail partners.

Do Not Enter Personal Information: The Gift Finder search field is intended exclusively for describing gift ideas, product preferences, and search criteria. It is not intended for the collection or processing of personal, private, or sensitive information. You must not enter personal names, addresses, financial data, health information, passwords, government identification numbers, or any information about third parties. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for a complete list of prohibited input types.

Assumption of Risk and Limitation of Liability: By using the Gift Finder, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Any text you enter may be transmitted to third-party AI and search services as described above
• Pingwish has no control over how third-party services (including OpenAI and retail partner APIs) process, store, or handle data once it has been transmitted
• Pingwish, its owner Daria Aparina (Loony Rocket e.U.), and its affiliates bear no responsibility or liability for any personal, private, sensitive, or confidential information you voluntarily enter into the search field
• You are solely responsible for the content you enter and use the Gift Finder entirely at your own risk
• Search results are generated by automated AI systems and third-party APIs and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your needs
• Pingwish makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any Gift Finder results

No Data Retention: Pingwish does not store or retain Gift Finder search queries on its own servers beyond the duration of the individual request.

Affiliate Program Participation

Pingwish participates in various affiliate marketing programs, which means we may earn commissions when you purchase products through certain links on our website. This is a material connection that could affect our recommendations and content.

EU Online Dispute Resolution: For European Union residents, we inform you of the existence of the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform: https://consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu/index_de. However, as Pingwish is a free service that facilitates links to third-party retailers rather than selling products directly, this platform may not be applicable to disputes involving our service.
